Police catch murder suspect with help from victim’s Fitbit data
A Connecticut woman’s Fitbit may have helped bring her murderer to justice. Connie Dabate was shot dead in her home December 2015. Her husband, Richard Dabate claimed he left for work around 8:30, only to return a half-hour later to see “a masked man — about 6-foot-2 and stocky with a Vin Diesel voice.â€Â The man allegedly tortured Richard, shot Connie with her husband’s gun when she arrived home from a gym class, and then ran when Richard escaped and called the police. Google’s experimental Android app dramatically improves nighttime photography
Most modern smartphones are capable of truly stunning photos. One of the ways in which they falter, however, is in low-light situations. Even cheap DSLR’s or mirrorless cameras are miles ahead of the best camera phones when it comes to shooting in dim settings, at least for now. Google researcher Florian Kainz developed an Android app that could narrow the gap. After being challenged by his team, he created an experimental app that helps Android users take clear photos even in less-than-ideal conditions.
