As writer Tim Kreider has observed: “It is, pretty obviously, a boast disguised as a complaint.” The startling truth though is that we have more time than in the past. American men now work on average 12 hours less per week than 45 years or so ago. Labor-saving devices like dishwashers and microwaves mean that we spend less time toiling on house chores than we used to. But one reason that we…

UK adults may soon have to buy “porn passes” from corner shops to prove their age online

Later this year, new UK legislation will require visitors to adult websites to prove that they’re over the legal age of 18. After all, in the UK at least, you need to be over the age of 18 in order to access any kind of credit. The problem is, around 40-percent of Brits don’t hold a credit card. And that says nothing about the 1.6 million working adults who are “unbanked” — meaning they lack access…

Scientists shouldn’t reanimate decapitated human heads

Do you want to live forever? If so, there’s some good news. Or so it seems. For it appears that we may have taken a step closer to making immortality reality. In a recent meeting at the National Institutes of Health, Yale neuroscientist Nenad Sestan revealed that his team has successfully reanimated the brains of dead pigs recovered from a slaughterhouse.
