Used by more than 3.6 million men daily, Grindr has been handing over its users’ HIV status to at least two other companies, according to a report by BuzzFeed News. The app, which aims to facilitate safe hookups in the gay community, gives users the option to display their HIV status — including their “last tested date” — on a public profile as a means of active disclosure. Elon Musk just took charge of Model 3 production, saying it’s his ‘most critical’ job right now

Skydio R1 review: a mesmerizing, super-expensive self-flying drone

The idea of a robot methodically hunting you down isn’t the most pleasant of concepts. A metal-bodied being zooming after you at up to 25 miles per hour with multiple eyes fixed on your location seems… out of your best interest. The Skydio R1 drone seems friendly enough. though. I wouldn’t call it loving or […]

Military documents reveal how the US Army plans to deploy AI in future wars

Tomorrow’s wars will be fought with a lethal combination of soldiers, drones, and AI-powered systems. The Internet of Battle Things, as it’s being called, is a vast battlefield network of machines and humans — and the US Army is working to make it a reality. In what reads like a list of kill-streak perks in a Call of Duty game, the Army described what the “things” in its “Internet of Battle Things” would be in a just-released white paper: Most of such intelligent things will not be too dissimilar from the systems we see on today’s battlefield, such as unattended ground sensors,…

Tesla’s biggest problem is human error

Elon Musk yesterday took part in some April Fool’s Day shenanigans despite one of his companies having an absolutely awful week. Showing a brave face, the tech mogul teasingly tweeted Tesla was declaring bankruptcy. We’re certain Musk and the only manufacturer to put a car in space will be fine for now, but the company’s gonna have to stop joking around if it wants to avoid Elon’s jests becoming prophecy. It’s time for Tesla to face its biggest problem: human error. Tesla Goes BankruptPalo Alto, California, April 1, 2018 — Despite intense efforts to raise money, including a last-ditch mass…

Here are the five things I learned installing a smart mirror

I recently received a review unit of the Embrace Smart Mirror. It’s essentially a 24-inch Android tablet mounted behind a roughly 40-inch mirror. It works well when third-party software is installed.
