Philips @ CES 2018

Our roving reporter describes how SmartSleep and our other innovations were welcomed at last week's Consumer Electronics Show (CES). Unveiled at CES, SmartSleep is the world’s first and only clinically-proven solution to help people get enough sleep. Its sensors detect periods of slow wave sleep and it uses customized audio tones to deepen and lengthen these. Studies show that nearly 40 percent of people ages 25-54 get less than the recommended seven hours of sleep per night. This leads to difficulties in concentration, memory and focus. Deep sleep, or slow wave sleep, plays a critical role in resetting our brains to be more alert and focused, so that we can remember better and have more energy. Already, 70 percent of chronically sleep-deprived users who have tried SmartSleep for just two weeks reported feeling less tired during the day. At the CES we displayed a whole range of other innovations from Personal Health, demonstrating how our smart digital platforms and intelligent solutions connect people, technology and data to give consumers insights into their health and access to professional expertise and advice. An earlier announcement at the event was that we’ve formed a global partnership in telehealth with American Well for consumer health and professional healthcare. This multi-year agreement will see American Well’s virtual care capabilities integrated into our consumer and professional digital health solutions. The first deployment of this will be in our Avent uGrow parenting platform, giving parents 24/7 access to professional medical consultations and instant peace of mind.
