Big Business, Startups and AI

Companies embracing artificial intelligence is the topic of this episode of The AI Minute. For more on Artificial Intelligence: https://voicesinai.com https://gigaom.com https://byronreese.com https://ift.tt/31WftGA... Transcript: Companies of all sizes are embracing artificial intelligence and coming out with products that utilize the technology. One is tempted to ask are the big successful AI companies of tomorrow, are they startups today, or are they already the big entrenched players? Now to be clear artificial intelligence does in many ways favor large entrenched players who generally have far more resources and much more availability of data. That being said when we look to the example of the Internet, the largest companies on the Internet today were start-ups just a few years ago. It's kind of a cliche, but the stumbling block of large companies is traditionally their inability and disinclination to be willing to destroy their own business with a new technology and take the risk of that gamble. Of course the start-up doesn't mind destroying a large company's business with some new technology, and clearly there are exceptions to this. You can name several large companies that today already have a compelling artificial intelligence platform, and while I am bullish on all of them I think the big winners of tomorrow are in fact startups today.
