Meaningful careers in healthcare for software graduates

As a student Ryan always knew he wanted a meaningful career but he never expected to make such a lasting impact while he was still at university. After a successful year in industry as a software engineer in digital pathology solutions he returned to complete his studies. For his final year project he wrote a cancer cell counting algorithm, which is now a live product feature. His work helps pathologists analyse human tissue more efficiently and accurately and could ultimately lead to quicker diagnosis and better treatment for cancer patients. 3 years after graduating and he still loves the challenges he faces every day. And if you ask him why it’s so important to him, the work that he’s doing in healthcare, he says it’s personal, ""Cancer effects everyone."" ‘I’d rather save a million lives, than make a million dollars.’ Connect with Philips online: - Follow Philips on Twitter: http://ift.tt/2wnOVko - Find Philips on LinkedIn: http://ift.tt/2w3Ciso - Sign up for Philips Careers newsletter: http://ift.tt/2wnDV6F
